How to layer for cold-weather commutes
Cold-weather dressing falls apart when people just add one giant coat. A proper layering system works better and packs down smaller when you don't need it.
Base layer
Start with something breathable and close to the body — our long-sleeve waffle tee works well here. It should feel almost too thin on its own; it's not meant to be your only layer.
Mid layer
This is where insulation lives. A heavyweight fleece hoodie or the quilted liner vest traps warm air without adding bulk. The vest is the underrated option here — full arm mobility, real warmth on the core.
Outer layer
Block wind and precipitation last. The nylon field jacket handles most commutes; switch to the waterproof shell anorak if the forecast says real rain, not just a chance of it.
The test
If you're slightly cold stepping outside, the layering is right — you'll warm up moving and won't be sweating five minutes in. If you're already sweating at the door, drop a layer.
